We have well and truly caught Olympic fever here in the office and following the performances, not to mention the controversies (green swimming pools, rogue bullets and Russian doping, to name a few) has certainly kept us entertained. However, we couldn’t let you lovely lot go thirsty while we sit back and discuss Phelps’ seemingly unearthly speed or Mo’s miraculous recovery. We have a moral duty to keep you well hydrated with fantastic booze and that’s exactly what we’re continuing to do.

So we’ve picked out our very own Champions, our favourite three South American wines, so you can get in the carnival spirit while cheering on from the sidelines/ sofa/ bar stool. ¡ Vamos !

Without further ado, in Bronze medal position is an Argentinian offering, the Pablo y Walter Malbec . All of the good things you hear about Argentinian Malbec are captured in this bottle, it’s vibrant, succulent and thanks to a bit of oak, sophisticated too. A well deserved third place!

Our silver medal winning bottle is a complex, elegant and traditionally made Chardonnay from the Casablanca Valley in Chile. This fresh and unoaked Ventisquero Chardonnay will team up perfectly with fish pie or chicken, ideal for an evening in the August sun.

And finally, in pole position, is the Alamos Malbec, this super smooth wine has certainly won our hearts, and with it’s dark, ripe and almost chocolatey flavours is a sure fire champion with roast meat and veg. Suitably delicious for our gold medal winner!

En l’honneur des Jeux Olympiques qui se déroule en ce moment, on a pensé qu’on allait poser le vin, trouver nos baskets et aller courir. Imaginez ça. Bien-sûr, cela n’arrivera pas, on a l’obligation de fournir votre délicieux vin, et ça c’est exactement ce qu’on va continuer a faire.

Cependant, nous ne pouvons pas nous permettre de laisser échapper cette événement. Donc afin de le célébrer nous avons choisi nos propres champions, nos trois vins préférés d’Amérique du Sud, pour vous permettre de saisir l’esprit de Carnival sur la ligne de touche,depuis votre sofa ou le tabouret de bar.

Sans plus tarder, au rang de médaille de bronze c’est une offre argentine, le Pablo y Walter Malbec. Toutes les bonnes choses que vous ayez entendu à propos des Malbec Argentins rassemblés en une bouteille. Vibrant, succulent – grâce à l’ajout d’un peu de bois – sophistiqué également. Une médaille bronze bien méritée !

Notre bouteille en deuxième place est un Chardonnay complexe et élégante. Ce superbe vin est conçu avec des techniques de vinification novatrices dans la vallée du Casablanca au Chili. Le Ventisquero Chardonnay est frais et non boisé, excellente avec du poulet ou du poisson- idéal pour une soirée sous le soleil d’aout !

Finalement, pour la position de tête, c’est le Alamos Malbec, ce vin vraiment lisse a gagné nos cœurs. Avec des saveurs profondes, presque chocolatés, c’est un champion avec la viande grillée et les légumes. Délicieux, et à juste titre notre champion des vins de sud-américains.
