What They Say

Clos l'Eglise is seductive and fruity, but above all it possesses an impressive concentration. It is a Pomerol with great ageing potential that will require 15 to 20 years of cellaring to reach its full potential.

About The Producer

Since 1997, Clos l'Eglise has been one of the greatest growths of Pomerol. Its excellent location, close to Chateau Clinet, allows it to claim the rank of a second classified growth of the Medoc. Owned by the Garcin family since 1997, the quality of the wine is constantly improving. A complete renovation program, associated with a high quality vinification (manual harvest) has allowed Clos l'Eglise to join the ranks of the best wines of the appellation. The property extends over 5.9 hectares of vines (only red). The vines are on average 40 years old. As far as the grape varieties are concerned, Merlot is in the majority (80%), with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc (20%). The density of plantation is around 7,150 vines per hectare. The agriculture is traditional with ploughing and reasoned principles. The terroir is composed of clay and gravel soils. The estate produces two wines: a first and a second wine called "Esprit de l'Eglise".
