Last week, Phoebe visited one of our producers - Chapel Down in Kent, in the South of the U.K. to check out what goes on at an English vineyard. Flowering is well underway although slightly behind schedule due to the bad weather in spring, but they are still expecting a good crop for the 2024 vintage.
She tasted 5 delicious wines, including their signature Bacchus - a dry white varietal native to Germany but thriving in cooler climate England, as well as their classic sparkling blends of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. Her favourite was the 2018 Grand Reserve 🥂

La semaine dernière, Phoebe était chez notre producteur de pétillant anglais Chapel Down, dans le Kent, au sud du Royaume-Uni. Le millésime 2024 s`annonce bien, la floraison est désormais bien engagée bien malgré le léger retard dû à la météo capricieuse du printemps.
Elle en a profité pour déguster 5 très belles cuvées, dont la cuvée signature Bacchus, un cépage blanc originaire d`Allemagne, et quatres assemblages pétillants classiques de Chardonnay, Pinot Noir et Meunier. Coup de coeur pour le Grand Réserve 2018 🥂

Ce Brut réserve a un nez expressif et fruité avec des arômes de poire et de pamplemousse, légèrement briochés. Il est équilibré et frais au palais avec des saveurs rondes de reine-claude, de poire et d’agrumes. Parfait comme apéritif ou à déguster lors d’un cocktail dinatoire.
This Brut Réserve has an expressive, fruity nose with aromas of pear and grapefruit, with a hint of brioche. It is balanced and fresh on the palate, with round flavors of greengage, pear and citrus. Perfect as an aperitif or to enjoy with a cocktail party.
