The famous superstar of Côtes de Provence
Whispering Angel is the benchmark for Provence rosés around the world. To the eye, her dress is light and pleasant. With great aromatic intensity, the nose is clean and precise. On the palate, this wine is dry, with a supple finish. Very accessible and pleasant with a wide variety of dishes. This cuvée was created in 2006 when the Château was acquired by Sacha Lichine. His ambition was to create the best rosé wines in the world, thus initiating the “rosé renaissance”. Sacha introduced new and innovative winemaking methods that revolutionized the styles of rosés produced in this region.
Château d'Esclans is located on an exceptional site, on a hill near the Gorges de Pennafort, twenty-five kilometers north-west of the ancient Roman city of Fréjus on the Mediterranean coast. The first traces of the castle site date back to Gallic times: its location served as a point of surveillance for possible intruders who could land in the Gulf of Fréjus. The current structure or foundations of the castle cellars (known to be the oldest in the region) are those of the original castle which was ceded by the Count of Provence to Gérard de Villeneuve in 1201. The current castle, inspired by the style of Tuscan villas, was built in the middle of the 19th century.
