About The Producer Chateau Dufort-Vivens
The quality of Durfort's wine has been known since the end of the XVIIIth century, and Thomas Jefferson, ambassador in France, future president of the United States, places it in his fascinating travel diaries immediately after Lafite, Latour and Margaux. The 1855 classification confirmed the opinion of this great connoisseur by giving it the rank of second classified growth. The vineyard is made up of several plots, surrounded by the vineyard of Château Margaux. For too long, the vineyard has produced wines below its second growth classification. But the arrival of François Lurton undeniably marks a turning point in the history of this beautiful property. Since 2016, Durfort Vivens has been certified Demeter. This testifies to the application of the new owners to create great wines.
