Deep colour with purple tinges. Very expressive nose at first with liquorice notes; rounded silky mouth feel with firm tannins. Surprisingly southern character.

About The Producer Château de Montfrin

Ideally situated on the eastern slopes and southernmost coasts of the Rhône, Chateau de Montfrin is one of the only wineries to make wine in all 5 appellations: Côtes du Rhône Village, Côtes du Rhône, Costières de Nîmes, Pays d’oc et Coteaux du Pont du Gard. The vines are cultivated in this agriculturally blessed land, featuring vastly different soils. From the deep and loamy plains of the Rhône to the sun-soaked slopes along its banks and the rocky plateaus left by this majestic river. Most of the vineyard is irrigated to help the vines withstand increasingly prolonged periods of drought. They continue to evolve the style of their wines by using minimal to no oak during the aging process, allows the fruit and terroir to shine through.
