A lovely, mineral Chenin Blanc from the Atlantic-influenced vineyards, with more freshness and vibrancy than you would expect. Stone fruits and citrus balanced with well-integrated oak spice and a smooth finish.
The nose has a beautifully enticing lemon-lime zest, that is so characteristic of Chenin Blanc from the Banghoek, with some overripe naartjie and hints of floral tones, like lilies. The pallet possesses a refreshing acidity, with hints of fennel, brioche and vanilla, ending in a long, luscious finish.
Only 8 kilometres from Stellenbosch on the road to Franschhoek, you will find Oldenburg’s vineyards surrounded by a spectacular mountain amphitheatre. At the heart of the farm lies Rondekop – their iconic, round hill which influences the vineyards planted on and around it. In 2003 current owner, Adrian Vanderspuy, acquired Oldenburg from his grandmother. He began analysing the terroir and climate before replanting the vines, giving the estate a new life.
