An open, fruity nose. On the palate, aromas of jammy red fruit and hints of spices, with a long finish.
At its best Nebbiolo can take a decade or more before its drinking window opens, however this shows it in a softer, more approachable style. Bright, autumnal fruits and subtle tobacco leaf marry harmoniously with a dry, rigid palate and fresh tannins.
A world-renowned producer of Barbaresco, Produttori del Barbaresco has a fabulous history. In 1894, Domizio Cavazza, director of the Royal Enological School of Alba, understood the uniqueness of the Nebbiolo produced in Barbaresco and created the first cooperative “Cantine Sociali” by bringing together 9 producers from the town. The cooperative character displeased the fascist regime which closed it in the 1930s. In 1958, faced with the rural exodus towards the Fiat factories in Turin, the village priest convinced 19 families from the village to stay and revive the cooperative. , the first three vintages of which will be vinified in the church. Today the cooperative brings together 50 families, and from its new cellar built on the church square exports its wines all over the world.
