About The Producer Clos L'Eglise

Since 1997, Clos l'Eglise has been one of the greatest producers of Pomerol. Its excellent location, close to Chateau Clinet, allows it to claim the rank of a second growth classification of the Médoc. Owned by the Garcin family since 1997, the quality of the wine is constantly improving. A complete renovation of the winery and production has been associated with a high quality vinification (manual harvest) allowing Clos l'Eglise to join the ranks of the best wines of the appellation. The property extends over 5.9 hectares of only red vines, that are on average 40 years old. The vineyard is predominantly Merlot vines (80%) with a small portion of Cabernet Franc vines (20%).The density of plantation is around 7,150 vines per hectare. The viticulture follows a traditional method through ploughing and reasoned principles. The terroir is composed of clay and gravel soils. The estate produces two wines: a first and a second wine called "Esprit de l'Eglise".
